Program
Available in France, Belgium and Italy, the “Language Buddy” program offers the opportunity for participants to become a conversation friend in a local family while sharing their everyday life. They may speak to one or several family members in order to help them improve their language skills through conversation. The participant may also have to assist them with their homework. The amount of time dedicated to conversations should be 15 hours/week. It is also possible to spend one month with families in two different locations in the country.
The program is open to English, German or Spanish speakers. Other languages depend on specific demand.
Accommodation & meals
Participants stay with a volunteer host family who provides them with full board and a single room in exchange of their conversations with a family member.
When and how long
The program is available for one, two or three months, all year round.
Terms of participation
- Be min. 21 years old
- Have a good knowledge of French for communication
- Be a graduate or currently enrolled in Higher Education / University
- Be a student in an education-related field
- Previous relevant experience is a plus
- Be a European citizen or able to get a visa “waiver” that allows a stay in Belgium for three months
- Have travel insurance covering sickness, accidents, repatriation and third party liability
