  • Age : min.15 max. 17 years old upon arrival
  • Duration : 4 terms, 3 terms, 2 terms or 1 term (approx. 10 weeks)

Australia is a large country with lots to offer. With WEP’s High School Flex, students can choose the state, city and school that they wish to attend. Choose from Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia or Tasmania. Whether you want to try surfing, study marine biology or play a specific sport, we can find the right school for you!

The Country

Fondly referred to as the Land Down Under, Australia is a special country, filled with beautiful beaches, sunny weather and picturesque scenery. Home to kangaroos, koalas and echidnas, Australia offers exchange students a unique experience. Living as a student in Australia, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture that is welcoming and social. From the deserts in the central outback to the tropical forests and the Great Barrier Reef in the North, Australia offers sights and experiences that will be sure to amaze!

School Life

Australian students attend school 5 days a week, with classes typically running from 9am – 3.30pm. Schools offer a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science and Languages. In the senior years, schools offer subjects including Legal Studies, Drama or Business Management. Class engagement is high with students completing group projects and cooperative work. The school year runs from February through to November.

Accommodation

Australian homestay families receive a weekly reimbursement. Students will become part of their “Aussie” family by integrating into their daily life and participating in activities. Homestay families will welcome students into their life as their own child.

Known for its pristine beaches and tropical islands, Queensland is Australia’s sunshine state. The capital city, Brisbane, is nestled amongst the surf beaches of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. Queensland is home to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. As a Study Abroad student in Queensland, you could try surfing, ride rollercoasters at the theme parks or get to know Australia’s unique animals at the iconic Australia Zoo!

New South Wales is famed for its capital city, Sydney. The Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are iconic structures, admired by locals and beyond. With a wide range of landscapes, including the Blue Mountains, rainforests and coastline cities, New South Whales offers Study Abroad students many opportunities for adventure!

Tasmania

South Australia has many contrasts with rugged outback wilderness, scenic mountain ranges, an extensive coastline, offshore islands and a large, meandering river. The capital, Adelaide, is a friendly, welcoming and sophisticated city, known for its art, food and music festivals. Living, studying and entertainment in Adelaide is also very affordable.

Tasmania is a place of wild and beautiful landscapes, friendly people, wonderful food, a rich history and a relaxed island lifestyle. Choose between taking a walk to Wineglass Bay, a hike at Cradle Mountain, or making friends with the local Fairy Penguins. Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city, is a beautiful harbour city with a thriving arts scene and is a popular destination for foodies. Tasmania will quickly become a home away from home!
