How does the Flex program work?

The Flex program gives the participant a similar experience to the Classic program. The student lives with a host family and attends classes at a local high school, however it has a more flexible approach, allowing the participant to choose certain elements. The Flex program in Australia does not only give students the opportunity to choose a state where they wish to live their high school experience (Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia or Tasmania), they can also choose a city or the school they wish to attend (preference of 3 schools should be given / subject to availability). Whether the student wants to try surfing, study marine biology or play a specific sport, WEP can find the right school! WEP’s FLEX programs let the students choose the experience that best suits them!

For what type of student is this program a good fit?

  • Students who are very independent
  • Students who wish to discover a specific area of Australia
  • Students who have a specific request regarding activities or sports while on the program or want to study specific subjects at school

Accommodations

Even though Australian homestay families on the Flex program receive a weekly reimbursement, students stay with a friendly, welcoming family where students are treated as members of the family. There might be more than one international student in the family and students who have certain allergies or lifestyle preferences (pet allergies, vegans, vegetarians...) can more easily be matched on the Flex program compared to the Classic program.
